About me

Hello Friends!

My name is Shandon and I am womanist scholar, pastor, spiritual coach, and theological ethicist. I am currently a Ph.D. candidate with a focus in  Religious Ethics and I enjoy connecting people to their spiritual source and one another in this divided world we live in.

I will be commissioned as an Elder in the North Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church in June, I served as a  lay delegate to the 2020 General Conference in 2024, and I am a student representative for the board of the Society of Christian Ethics.

Without introspection, we often forget that we are not human doings but are human beings.

A little about my

Research

I am interested in how lived theology (as opposed to doctrine) may shape the conception of resistance and control for those who self-identify as political activists, alongside the ethical frameworks that surround those conceptions. I hope to discern the role of religion and/or spirituality in cultivating these ethics for better or worse.

A little about my

Spiritual Side

I consider myself to be United Methodist  (check out my blog post on why I still am!) and very committed to integrating a life of not only the mind, but the heart and spirit. Learning about other spiritualities, religions and denominations continues to increase my faith in a Source that exists beyond all of us: one that isn’t just “up there” but one that seeks to connect intimately to us in our lives and helps to foster loving connections between each other as one equitable humanity. Connecting others to that loving Source is a calling that I have claimed for myself as both a spiritual guide and a pastor. I’d love to journey with you in whatever way that may look like, whether you consider yourself religious or spiritual!
